STRENGTH TRAINING – For ages 12 or older

It’s essential to first teach an athlete how to train before they begin to train.

Our Powerhouse Athletic Academy strength-training program is divided into two levels to insure an athlete’s proper muscular development.

Level I
This is a base-building foundation program designed for the beginner athlete using body-weight exercise and to teach him or her the fundamentals of strength training. We train athletes in proper form, technique, breathing and balance, focusing on strengthening their core. A key component of speed is how strong an athlete is with his or her own body weight.

Level II
Level II is designed to train the non-beginner athlete with ground-based, closed-chain movements, multi-joint movements and unilateral movements on multiple planes. This program is geared to train body movements, not body parts.

An athlete needs to train in a year-round program
Skills can’t be developed by practicing a few weeks before a team’s first game. To be really effective, athletic training should be year round. Speed, strength, and agility are all skills that take time to develop and incorporate into performance.
