The Twinsburg Tigers 12U Baseball Team embraced the concept of year long training starting back in 2010.  The team trained as a group with lead trainer Jason Davidson to improve overall speed and agility.  Committing to 2 sessions a week the team worked on their overall athleticism in addition to off season Baseball workouts. 

Well as the old saying goes the proof is in the pudding.  The team in 2011 went on to have one of the best seasons ever recorded by any youth team in Northeast Ohio.  The Tigers finished the year at 49-6 winning 4 tournaments, coming in first in their conference and league and also finishing tied for 18th out of 103 in Cooperstown, NY.

Drafted in 2006 from the Ohio State Buckeyes Football team, Sims is now the starting guard for the Detroit Lions. 

“Whether you’re a professional player or a yound athlete, the competition today is tougher than ever,” he explains. “Intense practice training for just a few weeks before the season doesn’t get the job done.  That kind of part-time training can cover the basics, but speed, strength, and agility are skills that take time to develop and incorporate into athletic performance.”

According to Sims, athletic training should be year round to be truly effective. “It’s the only way to maximize your athletic ability and take you to the next level of performance.”

Good form in exercising is absolutely critical, Sims adds. “Good form is the foundation for building skills. It’s also essential to avoiding injuries, which are more likely to occur with limited, short-term training leading up to competition.
